The
Rome branch (“Sezione di Roma”) of the Italian Amateur Radio League -
ARI institutes a new Contest with the main aim to promote the
utilization of the 70-MHz band that is getting available in a growing
number of countries, including Italy. The Contest rules (which can be
downloaded at http://www.ariroma.it/) have been devised so as to also
allow participation to stations not having 70-MHz transmit equipment or
located in countries where the 70-MHz band is not yet authorized. As a
matter of fact the Contest is also open to stations working cross-band
(50-MHz transmit, 70-MHz receive) and to 70‑MHz SWLs. The selected date
falls in the mid of the sporadic‑E propagation period, and there are
then good chances that a great number of long-distance contacts will be
possible. With the aim to encourage participation, numerous prizes will
be given, including a plaque for the high-scorer of each nation. Due to
the short notice, you are kindly requested to spread the word about
this event as much as possible so as to make the Contest a success. For

La
sezione ARI di Roma istituisce un nuovo Contest internazionale inteso a
promuovere l'utilizzo della banda dei 70 MHz che è stata recentemente
autorizzata in Italia dal Ministero delle Comunicazioni (in data 30
Aprile 2008). Il regolamento del Contest (scaricabile dal sito
http://www.ariroma.it/) è stato concepito con l’intento di
permettere la partecipazione anche a chi non sia ancora attrezzato per
trasmettere in 70 MHz, ma abbia almeno la possibilità di ricevere in
questa banda. La data prescelta cade in pieno periodo di propagazione
E-sporadico, con buone speranze quindi di poter effettuare un gran
numero di collegamenti a lunga distanza. Sono previsti numerosi premi
onde incoraggiare la partecipazione che prevediamo nutrita. In
considerazione del breve preavviso, si pregano tutti gli interessati di
adoperarsi per diffondere quanto più possibile la notizia dell’evento,
